| Born in Gujarat, India in 1934, Natvar Bhavsar moved to the US in the early 1960s where he became an influential member of the New York School of Colorists. He is, in fact, credited with easternizing the Color Field language through his use of thrown and sifted pigment. Natvar Bhavsar's paintings are in more than 800 public and private collections, including Solomon R. Guggenhein Museum, New York, NY; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, NY; the Wichita Museum of Art, Wichita, KS; and the Australian National Gallery of Art, Canberra, Australia. |
