GARY KOMARIN was born in New York City in 1951. He studied with the New York School painter Philip Guston at Boston University, where he recieved his M.F.A. He has exhibited extensively throughout the United States and in Europe. Solo exhibitions of Komarin’s work have been held at the Fine Art Society, London; Galerie Proarta, Zurich; Hamilton’s Gallery, London; Medows Museum, Dallas, Texas; the New Orleans Center for Contemporary Arts; and the University of Texas Atr Gallery, Irving.

In 1996 Komarin’s work was included in a pivotal exhibition at 41 Green Street in New York City, along with the art of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Philip Guston and Bill Taylor. His work may be found in many noted collections, including the Museum of Fine Art Houston, the Montclair art Museum, New Jeresey; the Microsoft Corporation,Seattle; Montpelier Re, Bermuda; and the Hyatt Corporation.

Gary Komarin lives in the wooded hills west of New York where he keeps a house and a studio. He is represented in Canada by Mira Godard Gallery.
